That Girl So Long Ago

That girl so long ago…lonely and empty…void of Christ…a puzzle with a missing piece, there, beneath the sole of her shoe…seeking something, but not finding…confused, but thinking she knew all…thinking that the puzzle piece was a man somewhere out there…thinking that the puzzle piece could be fame…fame for herself…so lost…so lonely…so empty…that girl so long ago…wandering in the deserts of society…embracing things that mattered not…adoring those who should not have been adored…searching for a grain of sand on the beach of despair…no light that could be hidden under a bushel…nothing to draw with, and the well was deep…trying to find a path amongst the brambles…reaching…reaching…reaching…blind to the face of Christ…dead to His voice…self-absorbed and self-contained…oblivious to the beauty that is His glory…wrapped in the shadows of desolation…that girl so long ago…living for only self-glory…treading the waters of a river flooded by vanity…singing songs about a freedom that shackled…hastily traveling a road that led farther and farther from childhood only to find herself lost in a valley of confusion…mistakes made and guilt gained…forever regretting stains…one day she found Him…her Lord and Savior…lost no more…lonely no more…alone no more…no more guilt…no more stains…abundantly pardoned.
