The Secret of Being Content
In these troubled times in America when everytime we turn on the t.v. or radio we here of financial crises, we need to learn the secret of being content. Let’s face it, times are going to get rougher. A lot of people are going to go from eating steak to eating peanut butter, and they’re going to be turning their noses up. We’ve gotten too used to having it easy. We’ve gotten too used to eating out whenever we want, using plastic cards in the check-out aisles, eating out everyday and buying things for our homes that we don’t need. We’re used to buying what we want, not what we need. In Philippians 4:12-13 the Apostle Paul tells us, “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.” That’s right, we can do everything through Jesus Christ who strengthens us. We can lean on Him. He is our Rock and our Fortress. Let’s learn to be content in any and every situation through our joy in Jesus.
I appreciate good blogs…and you have a good one! Keep it up…Our family has been feeling the crunch for the past three years. It’s really weird to go from being one of the only ones in my circle of influence that was living on cash only, to now seeing many couples being more frugal. I wish that before graduating high school there was a mandatory financial class. Also, it would be great if they could raise the legal age of having a credit card to about 21. Most of the bad choices we have made with credit cards came early on….now were paying the price!
