In Deep Distress?

David had sinned, and the Lord had the prophet Gad tell him, "This is what the Lord says: I am giving you three options. Choose one of them for Me to carry out against you." (2 Samuel 24:12 NIV) David's three options were either three years of famine in his land, three months of fleeing from his enemies while they pursued him or three days of plague in his land. And what did David say to Gad? "I am in deep distress. Let us fall into the hands of the Lord, for His mercy is great; but do not let me fall into the hands of men." (verse 14) God is always in control, and He loves us. Co-workers may make us feel like we've died and gone to hell; people may even hate us or be jealous of us, but isn't it better to be judged and disciplned by God rather than man? "Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent." (Revelation 3:19 NIV) He is our Heavenly Father. We are His children. He disciplines through love. I choose God's discipline over that of people who don't like me. How about you?
