The Opposite of Lofty and Noisy
"In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it." (Isaiah 30:15 NIV) Ladies, we live lives of noise and business, cynicism and distrust, and never seeing that we are sinning each day. Whooooa! We need to slow down. We need to "be still and know that He is God." We need to relax, pray, and trust in the Lord. We need to ask Him to bring our sins to our attention so that we can repent and come before Him clean and new. Do you enjoy always being busy? Do you enjoy always doing, doing, doing? Do you hear God when you're busy? Do you feel the workings of the Holy Spirit when you are always busy? Do you recognize the power and majesty of God when you are always busy? Rest, be still, be quiet, trust, repent. Why were the people we read about in the Bible talking with God and being visited by Him? Where did He visit them? In quiet, deserted places. "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." (Psalm 46:10 NIV) I don't know about you, but I'm going to start saying "No." I'm going to do the work the Lord has given me to do and say no to that which He hasn't given me to do. I'm going to spend time quietly with my Lord.
