No Nancy Drew Mystery
I've always loved reading Nancy Drew mystery books, and even at the age of 53 I collect and re-read the old ones from the 40s, 50s and 60s. I love old words like "roadster" and "chum", and I love how teenage Nancy solves mysteries and catches crooks. The saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ is no mystery, though many people like to study it to death, pick it to pieces and change it into a complicated puzzle with a fancy, made-up name. The Lord's saving grace is a wonderful, beautiful gift stated simply in John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (NIV) He wants us to believe and live with Him forever, not turn His Word into a mystery that can't be solved. "Now I rejoice in what was suffered for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions, for the sake of His body, which is the church. I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the Word of God in its fullness---the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Colossians 1:24-27 NIV)
